‘Seal' also found its origins in styrofoam pulled from the sea. I wanted to push the themes, shapes and textures explored in 'From the Sea' and create a piece that could appear radically different from every angle that you looked at. As opposed to having 2 sides this piece took different influences to create different shapes on all sides. Looked at one way you can see shapes found in marine life like seals and whales and sea lions and looked at another way it has shapes seen in more amphibious creatures. Using and connecting flowing looping shapes 'Seal' has a mirror-like finish that accentuates the beautiful blue patinas found on the ocean.
